Liverpool budget cuts first proposals

Liverpool City Council set out a first list of possible budget cuts over the next three years on 17/10/12. To see the full list and timings go to this City Council webpage.

There was a meeting for Voluntary and Community Sector groups in Liverpool at the Town Hall on 18/10/12. Where - at the moment - do they think the cuts will be made?

 

  • Community Grants - 10% reduction in year 1, then 20% and then 30% in year 3 
  • Information Advice and Guidance - reduction in funding
  • Lime Court - opening times reduced to 12 hours a day (and other "Hubs" reduced to 8/5)
  • 25% funding cut to accommodation-based support services for socially excluded people (apart from Mental Health and Learning Difficulties)
  • Withdraw funding for the older people's floating support services 
  • Review of Fairer Contributions policy and contribution cap limits for people getting social care
  • Community support contracts to be Merseyside-wide   
  • “Market innovations” such as promoting consortia & sharing of "back office" functions  
  • 10% reduction in agreements for day services and advocacy  
  • "Reconfiguring" services to deaf people and to blind and partially sighted people by reducing duplication
  • Reducing contribution to Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services
